Longtime Chattanooga CPA firm Johnson, Hickey & Murchison PC has merged its practice with Hixson CPA firm Mann & Miller PC, helping make JHM a top 500 accounting firm nationally.

"We are thrilled about the opportunities this merger affords JHM to grow its existing niche markets in the local and surrounding area, and we are eager to aggressively position ourselves in the peer review area," said Dean Krech, JHM's managing partner, in a statement.

Mann & Miller's Dewey Mann and Ethan Miller have been named partners at JHM, according to the firms.

JHM is a top 20 Tennessee CPA firm with more than 40 employees. Mann & Miller has about three employees.

JHM is entering its 40th year of service to small and midsized businesses, municipalities and nonprofits in Chattanooga and surrounding markets.

The firm practices in the areas of audit and attestation engagements, corporate and individual tax planning and preparation, and business consulting areas.

"Our top line is growing and our employee base is over 40 now for the first time," Krech said. "Some of that is organic growth and some due to merger."

Mann & Miller, founded in 1999 by Mann, practices in similar industries as JHM, and it handles peer reviews of other CPA firms nationwide.

"Dewey and Ethan have been practicing CPAs their whole careers and offer a wealth of technical expertise," Krech said. "At JHM, we pride ourselves on offering a family-friendly environment, and Dewey and Ethan will fit perfectly within the JHM culture."

JHM recently moved to its own 13,000-square-foot office in the Shallowford Road area.

At the current time, JHM plans to retain Mann & Miller's location in Hixson as a satellite office for the convenience of its clients and staff, Krech said.

Krech said JHM purchased its Shallowford Road building in August.
