Amazon site wins state OK

State environmental regulators on Wednesday gave the green light to Amazon.com's proposed 1 million-square-foot distribution center at Enterprise South industrial park.

The state Department of Environment and Conservation has approved a permit related to the mitigation of wetlands on the 80-acre tract.

Local and state officials are trying to finalize construction of the center along with a like-sized facility in Bradley County. Amazon has said it could employ over 1,400 people full-time and more than 2,000 seasonally.
