Virginia Lodge of Nashville and Ronald Walter of Memphis became members of the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors today after taking their oaths of office in separate ceremonies in their hometowns.

Lodge is the chief executive officer of FSI, a position she has held since 2012. Prior to this, she served as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services from 2003 to 2011.

Walter, who began his career as an aide to former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford, D-Memphis, is the general manager for the CBS affiliate in Memphis, WREG

The two are filling the seats of board members Barbara Haskew of Chattanooga and Bill Sansom, of Knoxville, whose terms expired in May. One vacancy remains on the nine-member board.

Lodge and Walter were allowed to proceed toward becoming full TVA board members after they were confirmed by Congress in a rare roll call vote.
