The Northwest Georgia Bank Foundation will donate $50,000 to the city of Ringgold for immediate disaster relief and is accepting donations to help local families and businesses recover after the April 27 storms.

"I think it's important for the community to come together and get involved with any organization that they think will benefit their communities the most," said Northwest Georgia Bank corporate communications officer Stan Guess. "They can go into any Northwest Georgia Bank branch and request to make a donation to the Disaster Relief Fund. We are currently working to accept donations via online and we will establish a link."

Donations for disaster relief can be made at any Northwest Georgia Bank branch, including the main office and the Nashville Street branch in Ringgold, which are open for normal business hours.

Guidelines on how to apply for disaster relief funding from the city will be communicated soon.

The foundation is also organizing a free benefit concert at the Northwest Georgia Bank Amphitheatre, but planning is preliminary. All concert proceeds will be donated to the city of Ringgold for disaster relief disbursement.

The Northwest Georgia Bank Foundation serves as the charitable arm of the 106-year-old community bank, headquartered in Ringgold. Donations are tax deductible.
