Election 101: All you need to know to vote in today's election

Polling places in Tennessee are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time today.

You'll need a government-issued ID to vote today. The Hamilton County Election Commission says the following forms of ID are acceptable:

• Tennessee driver's license with photo

• U.S. passport

• Department of Safety photo ID

• Photo ID issued by federal or state government

• Employee ID from U.S. Department of Energy

• U.S. military photo ID

• State-issued handgun carry permit with photo

The election commission says college-issued student IDs and other photo IDs not issued by federal or state governments will not be accepted.
