Bill Knowles is Hamilton County Clerk. Voters first elected Knowles to the position in 1974. Before his election, Knowles was director of manpower and training for the City of Chattanooga's Concentrated Employment Program at the Warner Park Field House, where he began as an administrative assistant there in the 1960s. Knowles attended trade school and was a master barber. He holds an honorary doctor of laws degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. Knowles graduated from Central High School in 1952.
