Hilltop Players fancy 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

"A Midsummer Night's Dream," Shakespeare's enduring tale of love, intrigue, fairies and enchantment, continues its run on the Bryan College stage through Saturday.

Bryan's Hilltop Players will present the story of Athenians who are embroiled in wedding plans and counterplots, tradesmen who are to perform a play for the duke of Athens' wedding, and a band of fairies who have their own problems while creating havoc for the mortals.

"It is time for us to do Shakespeare," director Bernie Belisle said. "It has been three or four years since we have done one of his plays, and this is one of my favorites. It is funny, engaging, easy to follow and there's a lot of action."

Cast members include Ethan Hargraves as Peter Quince, leader of the tradesman players; Emily Hendrix Hundley as Hermia; Jason Hundley as Lysander; Claire Stewart as a fairy; Ashley Boyd as the fairy queen Titania; Justin Winters as Puck; and twins Steve Franklin and Rob Franklin in the roles of Oberon king of the fairies and Theseus duke of Athens.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be presented in Rudd Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students. They are available at the auditorium's box office or by calling the bookstore at 423-775-7271.
