'Unmasked' auction Thursday benefits National Craniofacial Association

Entries in the "UnMasked" exhibition will remain on view through Wednesday at the Association for Visual Arts Gallery. On Thursday, the works will be moved to The Car Barn, a venue off Lee Highway, to be auctioned off in a fundraiser for Faces: The National Craniofacial Association.

The boardwalk-style event will include carnival foods, grandstand games for grown-ups and bidding on the 60 to 80 masks created by local artists, celebrities, sports figures and other community members.

Proceeds from the auction will directly fund travel, meal and expenses for Faces patients. The nonprofit organization serves children and adults who have craniofacial disorders resulting from disease, accident or birth defects.

The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Car Barn, 6721 Heritage Business Court. Tickets are $50.

The AVA Gallery, 30 Frazier Ave., is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for those who want to get a final preview of the masks before the auction. For more information, call the gallery at 265-4282 or Faces at 800-332-2373.
