AVA celebrates 25 years with bash tonight

The Association for Visual Arts will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a party tonight in Waterhouse Pavilion, corner of Market Street and M.L. King Boulevard.

The event, scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m., will include art-making stations, live music, an open bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres. An auction will feature fine works by artists with past or present connections to the organization. Dress is casual.

"This 25th anniversary gathering is a real celebration for AVA," Anne Willson, AVA's executive director, previously told the Times Free Press. "The grass-roots volunteer consortium that started with a group of friends has evolved into a fully staffed nonprofit organization with year-round programming and a nationally ranked festival. The visionaries who saw the potential in 1986, as well as AVA's many supporters through the years, are to be commended."

Admission is $100 for one ticket, $175 for two. Call 265-4282, ext. 101, for availability.
