Chattanooga Now 'Faces: Unmasked' deadline to participate extended

September 28th, 2012 by Staff Report in Chattanooga Now - Art

The Association for Visual Arts has extended its deadline to pick up unpainted masks for the upcoming exhibit "Faces: Unmasked."

Masks and information packets will be available through Saturday at the front desk in the AVA Main Gallery, 30 Frazier Ave.

Artists are asked to approach the face and mask as a point of departure and are encouraged to incorporate additional materials into the finished work.

Finished works and artist bio sheets must be submitted to AVA by Tuesday, Oct. 16 (hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday). Masks will hang in the AVA Main Gallery Oct. 18-27 and then be transferred to the Chattanooga Theatre Centre on Nov. 1 for the Faces: UnMasked fundraiser.

Masks created for the event will be auctioned, with all proceeds going to Faces: The National Craniofacial Association, which assists children and adults who have craniofacial disorders resulting from disease, accident or birth.
