Intrigue opens show by Sewanee senior art majors

"Optic," an oil and graphite on canvas by Sarah Grace Pendergrass is among the works by senior art majors to be presented at the University Art Gallery on Georgia Avenue at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

Others taking part in the opening intrigue, set for 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, are Kathleen Catherall, Emily Duncan, Frank Hand, Cara Martin, Virginia McCall, Sally Mills, Meg O'Neill and Sarah Peacock.

The event will include brief introductory remarks by the artists and a reception. The artists will formally present their works in a series of talks from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday April 13.

Both events take place in Convocation Hall.

A Baccalaureate Reception in the University Art Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, will close the show and the gallery's 2012-2013 exhibition season. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday (all times Central). Call 931-598-1223 for more information.
