A reception starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, will mark the opening of the 2013 "UTC Department of Art Faculty Exhibition" at the Cress Gallery of Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The exhibition includes painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, printmaking and graphic design, as well as conceptual and time-based media.

"Vibrant color, rich contrast, tactile surfaces and evidence of process characterize this year's lively edition that extends beyond the Cress with a surprising installation in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center, welcoming campus and community through the gallery doors and into an open dialogue of idea and contemporary practice in the visual arts," says a news release from Cress director and curator Ruth Grover.

Participating faculty include both longstanding and new members. They are Dan Bethune, Ron Buffington, Mark Bradley-Shoup, Katie Claiborne, Robert Cox, Angela Dittmar, Matt Greenwell, Phillip Andrew Lewis, Lakshmi Luthra, Ray Padron, Jennifer Rubin, Lauren Ruth, Susan Seaton, Aggie Toppins and Christina Renfer Vogel.

The exhibition will continue through Friday, Oct. 4. Gallery hours are 9:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is in the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St. Visitors arriving before 5 p.m. weekdays will find metered parking on Vine Street or may obtain a parking pass from the Administrative Services Building on Palmetto Street. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, visitors may park for free in any campus lot not marked "24 Hour Reserved."
