'Cinderella' at Walker Valley High School includes Princess Night

Walker Valley High School's Fine Arts Department will present its spring musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella," in six performances over the next two weekends.

Forty-five freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors make up the cast. The orchestra is composed of students and faculty members.

"Cinderella" is the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written for television. It was originally broadcast live on CBS in 1957. It has been remade for television twice, in 1965 and 1997, and has been adapted for the stage in a number of versions, including a production that is set to open Feb. 24 on Broadway.

Performances are at 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-23; and next Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 28-March 2.

Tickets purchased in advance are $7 for adults, $5 for students and children. Tickets at the door are $10 and $7.

The Feb. 22 show has been designated Princess Night and will include a tea and photo session for young ladies with a ticket upgrade.

Walker Valley is at 750 Lauderdale Memorial Highway in Cleveland, Tenn. To purchase tickets, call 423-336-1383.
