Illinois artist Ed Cook, who specializes in miniature painting, will offer free demonstrations of his creative process this weekend at River Gallery, 400 E. Second St. A self-taught artist, Cook has won awards in national and international shows for the exquisite detailing in his rural scenes. Most of his paintings average 11 square inches. Visitors can see how he creates these tiny, detailed works from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
