Covenant College 'On the Verge' of next production - Feb. 13-23

Covenant College continues its 2013-14 theater season with "On the Verge, or The Geography of Yearning" from celebrated writer Eric Overmyer.

Overmyer earned two Primetime Emmy nominations for his work on "Law & Order" and "Homicide: The Movie." He has two Edgar Allan Poe Award nods, with a win for season four of "The Wire."

His 1987 play follows the adventures of three Victorian women venturing into what they believe to be Terra Incognita, a new, unexplored land. Brandishing parasols, machetes and rotary egg beaters, they make astonishing, anachronistic discoveries and encounter characters ranging from a yeti to a German-accented cannibal to a mystery man named Mr. Coffee. As they progress on their travels, it becomes apparent that this is no ordinary journey. They realize they are traveling through time and beginning to absorb knowledge from the future.

"On the Verge" opens with a preview performance at 8 p.m. today, Feb. 13, with a ticket price of $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Show dates are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15, and Friday, Feb. 21, with an 8 p.m. curtain, plus a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 seniors and students.

The show will be held in the Sanderson Auditorium at Covenant College, 14049 Scenic Highway, Lookout Mountain, Ga.
