The Hilltop Players of Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., will present Oscar Wilde's acclaimed play "The Importance of Being Earnest" in seven performances starting this weekend.

One performance, Friday, Jan. 31, is a dinner show, starting at 6:30 p.m. All other performances - Jan. 24-25, 28-30 and Feb. 1 - will be presented as dessert theater.

Director Bernie Belisle describes "Earnest" as "a classic British comedy playing with words and paradox [that] is jolly good fun."

This comedy of manners was first presented in London in 1895. It is celebrated not only for the lighthearted ingenuity of its plot but for its inspired dialogue.
