"Fiddler on the Roof," the classic musical that opened on Broadway in 1964, will be staged this weekend at Chattanooga State Community College.

Set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in 1905, the story revolves around the character of Tevye. The father of five daughters, Tevye attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences affect the family's lives.

WRCB-TV's Greg Glover will play Tevye. The cast also features Chattanooga State students, faculty and staff, as well as a youth ensemble from the Signal Mountain Playhouse.

"Fiddler on the Roof" features the music of Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein. Chattanooga State's production team includes stage and musical direction by Dr. Jennifer Arbogast, choreography by Lindsay Fussell, stage management by Bridgett Bryant and an orchestra conducted by Sandy Morris.

Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in the Humanities Theatre on the main campus of Chattanooga State, 4501 Amnicola Highway.
