Local artist Amanda Brazier will offer a watercolor paint-making demonstration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at River Gallery, 400 E. Second St.

On her website, amandabrazier.com, the artist explains that her work "explores man's elemental interaction with his environment, particularly in the measured way he builds and inhabits shelter."

The paints she uses are her on creation, from pigments processed from the soils near her home, enabling her to construct "a painted sanctuary with a sense of its origin and culture."

Her work is included in this month's "Sketch Show" at the gallery, illustrating early concepts by 10 artists.
