The Association for Visual Arts is looking to expand its Art Loan Program, which places local artists' work with local businesses on a rotating basis.

AVA reinstated the program in 2015 with the goal of putting local art on display in nontraditional places, letting businesses and nonprofit organizations dress up their walls at the same time. The selection of pieces is carefully curated to suit the participating businesses' needs.

"The Art Loan Program provides the importance of connecting the visual arts and community in personal and experiential ways," said Ricardo Morris, executive director of AVA. "Every six months the businesses have the option of purchasing the original local art for display full time or continuing to rotate the art on view. This aids in providing the local artists with further exposure in Chattanooga."

AVA's roster includes professional artists, emerging artists and students. Much of AVA's work in the community happens free of charge or at a reduced rate because of an investment from its members, supporters and sponsors.
