'Beautiful Botanicals' grounds members of North Georgia Sky Painters Society

Five members of the North Georgia Sky Painters Society have come down to earth with their latest exhibit, "Beautiful Botanicals," on view this month at ArtCrafters Gallery in Dayton, Tenn.

This group is much more grounded for this exhibit, with subjects drawn from the plant kingdom, says spokeswoman Carol Hobbs. The paintings in acrylic and oil represent both tropical and native plants, she says. Subjects range from autumnal forest foliage to equator-loving plants.

Besides Hobbs, the artists are Sandra Babb, Evelyn Marie Williams, Janice Kennedy and Sherry Hullender.

Among Williams' works is a large painting of a glowing autumn scene. A smaller painting reflects the intense fall color of a maple's foliage.

Babb has captured the lushness of a cascading "Beefsteak Begonia." She also offers several small oil studies of water lily blossoms.

Kennedy has created a field of Queen Anne's lace. Hullender portrays a branch of weeping willow against a yellow background. Hobbs adds a tile motif background to complement a Begonia Rex.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m Saturdays.
