UTC art faculty opens exhibit

The Cress Gallery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga opened this academic semester Aug. 23 with its biennial exhibition featuring the work of full-time and adjunct faculty and staff in the UTC Department of Art.

"The UTC Department of Art Biennial Art Faculty Exhibition" is open to the public through Friday, Sept. 15. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day.

Expect a broad range of media from installation, video and sound, to painting, sculpture, fiber, photography and graphic design as the studio faculty present visual forms of their professional research in this exhibition.

Participating are Molly Barnes, Christine Bespalec-Davis, Mark Bradley-Shoup, Ron Buffington, Mike Calway-Fagan, Matt Greenwell, Carrolann Haggard, Katie Hargrave, Pat Kelley, Phillip Andrew Lewis, Baggs McKelvey, Andrew O'Brien, Ray Padron, Ted Ross, Steven Sewell, Heath Schultz, Astri Snodgrass, Aggie Toppins, Gavin Townsend and Christina Vogel.

Cress Gallery is located in the lobby of the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St., on the corner of Vine and Palmetto streets. Visitors may park free in any lot not marked "24 hour reserved" after 5 p.m. Before 5 p.m. on weekdays, visitors will find metered or free street parking near the Fine Arts Center, or they may park in the Fifth Street Garage for a $4 fee and walk across campus to the Fine Arts Center.
