In what has become an annual tradition, Gallery 5 at Mountain Arts Community Center will give the community a peek into the MACC's art and pottery classes. The exhibition, "Painting and Pottery," features original works by students and their mentors. The show and sale begins with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, and continues through the last Friday of the month, Jan. 27.

Those with work on display are Shirley Mabee, Wendy Roth, Keith Barry, Jennie Storey, Kittie Williams, Laurie Buchanan, Verna Watson, Carol Lewallen, Melissa Atkinson, Lolly Durant and Valerie Gibson.

During the First Friday reception, instructors Gibson and Durant will demonstrate art and pottery techniques, and many pieces on exhibit will be available for purchase. New art and pottery classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the MACC.

Gallery 5 at the MAAC is at 809 Kentucky Ave. on Signal Mountain. Hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays.
