"Untitled" by Sister Mary Grace Thul.A free reception is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at River Gallery to honor December's featured artists Janet Eskridge and Sister Mary Grace Thul.
Work by the two artists will be on view at the gallery, 400 E. Second St., through Dec. 31.
Eskridge collects old fragments of handwritten notes, photographs and other keepsakes. She arranges and layers them inside antique boxes coated with a mix of wax and resin.
Cloistered nun Sister Thul says she views making art as prayer. She invites viewers to find inner peace through her oil paintings and collages.
