Twenty-one youth ranging in age from 8 to 18 will present "The Addams Family" in three performances this weekend at Brainerd United Methodist Church.
Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Cousin Itt and all the weirdly comical characters of Charles Addams' comic strip are in this musical presented by the Youth Theater of Christian Family Theater. The show is directed by Dale Dye, assisted by Karen Stoll. Christi Barr is the choreographer and Judy Reich is musical director.
As the musical opens, Gomez Addams is living every father's nightmare: daughter Wednesday has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart, young man from a normal, respectable family. A man her parents haven't met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother, Morticia.
However, Morticia will learn about those prospective in-laws soon enough when a dinner party is held for the future groom and his family to meet the parents.
The show opens with the ghoulishly fun graveyard number,"When You're an Addams," and is filled with unforgettable songs such as "One Normal Night" and "Crazier Than You."
Cast as Gomez and Morticia are Hunter Landreth and Gabrielle Stoll. Playing Wednesday and future bridegroom Lucas are Olivia Kelly and Harrison Ivins.
Rounding out the cast of Addamses are Benjamin Brown as Uncle Fester, Joel Whitesell as Pugsley, Hannah Riddle as Grandmama, Harrison Stoll as Lurch and Hailey May as Cousin Itt.
