A reception will be held Friday, Oct. 20, to honor five artists whose work is featured in a new exhibit at Reflections Gallery. The free reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Reflections, 6922 Lee Highway.

The exhibit features the work of Paul Brzozowski, Melissa Gates, Robert "Garren" Hall, Cindy McCashin and Elizabeth Worthington.

Brzozowski is a woodworker from Cleveland, Tenn., who has used his woodworking skills to build everything from coffee tables to custom toolboxes. While in Shanghai as a representative of Catnapper of Cleveland, he fell in love with Chinese curved wood designs.

Gates began painting as a hobby in 2015. Originally from Saginaw, Mich., her career has taken her from coast to coast in the United States, as well as to Costa Rica and Panama. Her award-winning renditions of animals and other wonders of nature capture the close-up beauty of her subjects.

Hall is known for his evocative images of Southern Americana. His subjects range from charming small-town scenes, Southern landscapes and memorabilia to vintage cars and trucks. He paints with oils and acrylics and calls his method "reference painting," often combining elements from several photographs in one work.

After enjoying a career in television production and marketing at WRCB-TV, public television fundraising with WTCI then as a Realtor, McCashin has been painting for four years. She is an avid photographer and uses the images she captures as inspiration to create works in acrylics and watercolors.

Worthington taught art for 15 years at Lookout Mountain School. Now retired, she spends most days painting, playing the piano and enjoying life. She is known for her use of vibrant color in her landscapes.

Reflections Gallery is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
