Four garden-club matrons meet a young girl who has come to their little Texas town to marry an infantryman before he ships off for World War II.
When the quartet impulsively decides to throw the girl an elaborate wedding, the comedy that ensues throws their lives and friendship into turmoil - especially when they attempt to put on a wedding in one frenzied afternoon of preparation.
That's the premise when Artistic Civic Theatre opens "Wedding Belles" on Friday night, Jan. 19, for two weekends of performances. The comedy is written by Alan Bailey ("Smoke on the Mountain") and Ronnie Clair Edwards ("The Waltons").
Tickets are $15, $13 and $11, and ACT members receive a $2 discount.
