An invaluable part of making art is receiving constructive feedback from other knowledgeable artists, says Peggy Townsend of Townsend Atelier.
For this reason, the studio will offer three opportunities in coming months for artist critique and feedback. The critiques are available to beginners, professional artists and those of all skill levels in between.
The first critique will be offered Friday, June 22, when artist Christopher Groves visits Townsend Atelier, 301 E. 11th St., from 6 to 8 p.m.
The evening will begin with his free artist talk sharing advice and tips for artists on how to apply to juried shows and galleries, improving written and visual presentation and pricing work. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Following his talk, he will critique the work of 20 artists, who may bring one work of art to be examined by Groves. Artists wishing to participate must have registered with Townsend Atelier in advance. To register for a critique, email peggy@townsendatelier.com.
Everyone is invited to stay for his critiques in order to learn from his remarks, whether they have a work for inspection or not.
Artists Mia Bergeron and Timur Akhriev will begin monthly critiques on Sept. 4. Also that month, Bergeron will begin online critiques.
