The Museum Center at Five Points in Cleveland, Tenn., has opened its 2018 "Stitches in Time" quilt show with a display of 75 coverlets representing a variety of styles.

"One of the things we did this year was issue a challenge," says Lindsay Overby-Shirkey, curator of collections. "We asked quilters to save an antique, vintage, or old piece of needlework or fabric and rework it into a quilt. We had many beautiful submissions."

Six events will take place before the show concludes on March 29. Tickets for these events may be purchased on the museum's website at museumcenter.org.

Among the show's highlights will be a meet-and-greet on Friday, March 16, with renowned fiber artist Tone Haugen-Cogburn, just weeks before she teaches a quilting course at the prestigious John C. Campbell Folk School.

Also scheduled is a Sewing Service Day with Quilts of Valor, a nonprofit foundation that provides handmade quilts to wounded veterans. Volunteers, whether they can sew or not, are asked to donate time during the day on March 22.

Visitors to the exhibit will notice ribbons marking show winners. But the final recognition, the Ruth Hale Viewers' Choice Award, will be announced at show's end after visitors have had a chance to see the quilts and pick a favorite.
