One of the most beloved bedtime stories ever written will be brought to life in a musical at The Colonnade in Ringgold, Ga.
"Goodnight Moon" opens Friday, Feb. 16, for six performances capturing all of the magic and wonder of a child's imagination.
Kids are invited to wear their favorite pajamas and spend the evening with Bunny, Mouse, the Old Lady and even a few dancing bears. After the show, join the cast onstage in "the great green room" for photos, autographs and conversation.
"This is a children's show, but most of our cast are teenagers and adults," says Roy Denton, artistic director for Storyteller Productions.
"Each page of the book is brought to life in unique ways throughout the performance. It is constantly moving. It is certainly an action-packed hour. The set itself literally comes to life as another character in the story. It is magical," Denton says.
Just like in the storybook, it's time to go to sleep, but Bunny isn't ready. With the help of his friends and a few moments of pure magic, he is finally ready to say goodnight. The kittens and mittens, the bears and chairs, the red balloon and, of course, the moon will all be part of this musical version of the delightful tale.
Darla Toker is making her directorial debut with "Goodnight Moon." She has served as Storytellers choreographer for many years.
