Nine of the colorful characters in Miki Boni's new book, "Figments," will be brought to life for an exhibit that is part of the Chattanooga Youth Gallery's exhibition in The Church on Main, 1601 Rossville Ave.

Boni's display is somewhat like a pop-up gallery in that it will be open to the public one night only, Friday, March 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit continues Saturday night, but is closed to the public; only high school art students with work in the show and their families may attend.

Friday night's visitors can interact with Boni's larger-than-life characters. Each painting will be replicated in costuming that is worn by dancers, skaters and greeters mingling with the crowd - giving viewers somewhat of a before and after effect.

Boni is the featured artist at this year's Chattanooga Youth Gallery, an adjudicated exhibition by area high-school art students. There are approximately 125 works in the show. As the featured artist, Boni will also share her knowledge with the students in an AVA-sponsored workshop.
