Dari Dip in LaFayette offers on-site banquet room and off-site catering

Dari Dip, which began in 1953 as a popular walk-up ice cream shack, is now a full-scale restaurant that can accommodate guests in the on-site banquet room or at off-site catering events.

There is plenty of space in the back dining/banquet rooms for private events ranging from birthday parties to formal meetings of local organizations. The menu features more than just ice cream; there are plenty of items that are perfect for large groups and co-owners Don Benton and his son Donald can help plan any event so that everything tastes delicious and runs smoothly.

The restaurant's regular menu offers a diverse selection from steaks to burgers, and for catering Dari Dip is able to be flexible, preparing specialty foods quickly and deliciously.

"We can provide the food and the service from the simple to the most complex," Benton says. "We can customize their party to their specific needs."

The restaurant caters off-site for local events throughout the tri-state area, bringing everything from delicious prime rib, chicken and dressing, country-style barbecue ribs and baked chicken to

guests' celebrations, meetings and other gatherings. Those interested in catered events are encouraged to start booking early this season, especially if they want to reserve space in the restaurant. Benton says one of his favorite parts about catering is meeting guests and getting to be part of their special event, whether it's a wedding banquet or holiday celebration.

It's about family involvement this time of year and we see families in here from as many as five generations," Benton says. "Whenever I see families together it reminds me of our family, because even though we have some of the children living out of town, we still do things together as a family two or three times a year."

Whether dining in a banquet hall with a group of friends or grabbing a quick bite to eat for lunch, dessert is always the perfect way to end a meal. Benton says the freshly mixed shakes and ice cream favorites like banana splits are still very popular even in the winter. The restaurant also offers a variety of cobblers, including blackberry and pecan, which are favorite sweet choices as well.
