Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary Club presents I Smell Smoke

Orders are due no later than Friday, May 10, for the Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary Club's most savory fundraiser, I Smell Smoke.

Club members expect to smoke at least 125 Boston pork butts in the parking lot of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, 3319 Hixson Pike, overnight on Friday, May 17, with distribution between 8 and 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18. There will be no day-of sales, and orders not picked up by 10 a.m. will be donated to the homeless. Delivery may be arranged for large orders.

The smoked butts, which weigh between 8.5 and 10 pounds when cooked, will be ready to eat at pickup, or they may be shredded and frozen for later use.

Each butt costs $30. A $1 surcharge is added to online orders. Proceeds benefit four neighborhood public elementary schools, international projects in Haiti and Uganda, as well as Rotary International's mission of eradicating polio.

Club members presented $6,000 to Rivermont Elementary School for its media center. The club also will purchase library books for DuPont Elementary School.
