Fire & Ice chili contest seeks entries

Entries will be accepted through Wednesday, Feb. 12, for the fourth annual Jim Thompson Memorial Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off.

Sponsored by the Blue Ridge Business Association, the competition will take place the following Saturday, Feb. 15, in downtown Blue Ridge, Ga. Entry fee is $35. There are categories for adults and youths, civic groups and restaurants.

In addition to chili cooks, the winter festival also will feature ice sculptures, an ice skating rink in Blue Ridge City Park and music by Laura Monk & High Cotton, Buckner Brothers and Neighborhood Watch. A Fire Queen and Ice King will be crowned.

Admission to the event is free, though tickets will be sold for chili tastings to name the People's Choice Award winner. Vendors will have other concessions available as well.
