Back Row Film Series features 'Urbanized'

More than half the world's population lives in urban areas, and by 2050, experts say, 75 percent will call a city home.

The documentary film "Urbanized," to be shown tonight as part of the Back Row Film Series, looks at the issues and strategies behind urban design and features some of the world's foremost architects, planners, policymakers, builders and thinkers.

The goal is to show how the challenges of balancing housing, mobility, public space, civic engagement, economic development and environmental policy are becoming universal concerns.

"Urbanized" is the third part of director Gary Hustwit's design film trilogy, joining "Helvetica" and "Objectified."

A reception at 6 p.m. will precede the screening at 6:30 p.m. at GreenSpaces, 63 E. Main St.

Cost is $10. Seating is limited. To purchase tickets, call 267-1218 or visit backrowfilms.com.
