THE GREESONS

Second and third generations now travel with this family act, now in its 21st year. At the core are sisters Lisa Dykes and Karen Demastus, whose parents, the Rev. Herschel Greeson and his wife, Elon, originated the group. The sisters sing with their husbands, Tony Dykes and Darrell Demastus, as well as son/nephew Joey Demastus. Occasionally contributing to the group's sound are younger children Christian Demastus, Emily Dykes and Jacob Dykes. KC Brandon plays piano for the group. All of the members live in the Chattanooga/North Georgia area. Their latest release is "Redeem the Time."

MICHAEL COMBS

This North Carolina-based music evangelist sings and plays guitar and piano. A former BellSouth service representative, he began his music ministry after being saved in 1989, though he had never sung professionally before. His latest release is "Lambitis."

HEIRLINE

The heart of Heirline is lead singer Ernie Dawson, who writes many of the group's songs. "Jesus Has Conquered the Grave," co-written by Dawson and his older son, Ernie, was the group's first Top 10 song on the Singing News Magazine charts. Dawson is a nominee for Best Lead Singer in the Southern Gospel Music FanFair awards.

BACK HOME

Jimmy and Jennifer Layne of South Pittsburg, Tenn., are nominated for Duet of the Year in the Southern Gospel Music FanFair awards, to be held May 3-8 in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. In addition to a new CD, "Pocket Full of Crosses," they sing backup for other Christian artists.

THE DIPLOMATS

Originally a male quartet, The Diplomats became a mixed quartet 35 years ago when the original group disbanded and member Jimmy Pearson began singing with Rita Williams, who would become his wife. Joining them are their son, band leader Corey Pearson, lead singer Matt Dibler, bass Joe Brown, pianist Michael Lott and drummer Rodney Shirley.
