Sonlife Quartet sings tonight in Ringgold

A gospel quartet, a gospel duo and a teen banjo player will take the stage at tonight's Sacred Sounds concert at the Ringgold Depot.

Featured entertainment is the Sonlife Quartet, a Chattanooga group made up of singers Frank Steil, Stan Parsons, Garry Newton and Frank Poland. The group's sound engineer is Steve Crumley.

Poland was a founding member of Sonlife Quartet 34 years ago. Steil and Parsons add another 50-plus years performing. Newton has been performing since age 15, originally as a bass player for the Gospel Crusaders Quartet and later as a singer with the Gospel Tones. He also plays piano and guitar.

Calvary's Blend is the duo of Cindy Jones and Bryan Gibson of Soddy-Daisy. They have been voted Best New Gospel Duo three years running by the Georgia Country & Gospel Music Association, the South Carolina Country & Gospel Music Association and the North America Country Music Association International. The singers began performing together initially in high school and formed the duo in 2009.

Also appearing will be a recipient of the Share America Dottie Rambo Award, teen banjoist Garrett Arb.

The event is a fundraiser for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship Fund, which helps musicians achieve higher education.

Randall Franks will emcee the show.
