The Features cap off a 'Twilight' year with New Year's Eve blowout at The Honest Pint

The Features' lead singer, Matt Pelham, isn't on Team Jacob or Team Edward, but he's more than happy to provide the soundtrack to their squabbling.

"From Now On" never made it past the editing-room floor when The Features' third studio album, "Wilderness," was released in July, but it was snatched up for the soundtrack of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1."

Since then, the song has become the band's calling card to the world, even though it's not among its members' favorites to play.

"We've played that song maybe one time up to this point," Pelham said, laughing. "I fear that we're going to have to learn it and play it at every show now.

"It's weird, but I can't complain because we're doing what we like to do. Anything that can help us to do that is a positive thing."

Fans of The Features can hear whether Pelham works up a live version of "From Now On" Saturday when the band takes the stage alongside local rockers The Bohannons for a New Year's Eve concert at The Honest Pint.

The Features was founded 18 years ago in Sparta, Tenn. In 2004, the band achieved greater notoriety as a frequent opening act for fellow Nashvillians The Kings of Leon.

Fans accustomed to waiting years between Features album will have something unexpected to look forward to in 2012. Pelham said the band has all but finished its fourth studio album, which was recorded in Portland, Ore., a month before the release of "Wilderness."

During the New Year's Eve show, the band will give fans a sneak peek of what they'll be hearing when the next album is released in the summer. The rest of the set list will offer a broad survey of the band's discography, including almost all of "Wilderness," which Pelham said has meshed exceptionally well with the band's energetic approach to live performance.

"We have fun playing these songs, and I think that translates to the crowd," he said. "There have been songs we've played in the past that you can tell it's entirely downtempo, very slow songs, so they're not as fun to watch as a lot of the songs on 'Wilderness.' "
