Roane Choral Society in Spring City

The Roane Choral Society will present a concert of patriotic music tonight at the Tennessee Valley Theatre, 184 W. Jackson Ave., in Spring City.

"An American Celebration" is a tribute to men and women in uniform, both past and present. The ensemble, a nonprofit organization of volunteer singers, also will perform the program Sunday, Presidents Day, from home base in Harriman, Tenn.

Among the selections will be Irving Berlin's "God Bless America," Doreen Rao's "For Spacious Skies," William Steffe's "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Joseph M. Martin and Pamela Martin's "A Prayer for Our Time."

Other highlights include "I Have a Dream" by Knoxville composer John Purifoy and "Armed Forces Salute" by Joyce Eilers. During the latter, veterans and service personnel in the audience will be recognized.
