Matthew McDonald has rejoined Perpetual Groove after a three year absence and will be with the band on keyboards Saturday when they return to Rhythm & Brews.

McDonald left the group in 2008 to pursue other interests, including being a father and husband.

The band itself has been performing for more than 11 years, playing an electronically based brand of jam music that blends jazz-rock, neo-psychedelia, R&B, trance electronica, progressive rock and anthemic arena rock. Innovators in the studio and in their live shows, they were the first band to tour utilizing 5.1 surround sound technology.

The band, originally from Savannah, Ga., is now based out of Athens, Ga.
