Dulcimer Day, square dance scheduled at Folk School

Chattanooga Folk School has two events scheduled at its new digs this weekend. The center recently relocated to a larger space at 1800 Rossville Ave. on the Southside.

Today is Dulcimer Day, featuring a series of workshops at 5 p.m., a potluck at 6:30 p.m., a concert by guest artist Neal Hellman at 7:30 p.m. and a jam session with all of the workshop presenters following Hellman's performance.

Workshops are $15, with the exception of an introductory session for children, which is free.

Hellman is a nationally acclaimed performer and teacher of mountain dulcimer. His latest recording is "Emma's Waltz," which has been praised for its "flawless musicianship."

Sunday brings a Square Dance and Music Party, featuring caller T-Claw and his band Fiddle Pie. The evening also will include performances by Heather Luttrell, Emily Kate Boyd and JoyScout. Admission is $7.
