Twenty young pianists from across the country will be in Cleveland, Tenn., next week as Lee University's School of Music presents its International Piano Festival and Competition.

The event, which began in 2005 as a competition for high school students, was expanded in 2011 to include opportunities for participants to study with internationally acclaimed artists in master classes and private lessons.

A highlight for the community is the chance to take in free performances by the guest artists. Featured this year are performers/teachers Russell Sherman, Wha Kyung Byun and Tian Ying. Lee faculty Ning An and Dr. Gloria Chien also will contribute their talents to the festival, which is chaired by Lee's Dr. Phillip Thomas.
