High school, college students may see Yo-Yo Ma for free

Fifty tickets to see famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma in concert with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera on Thursday, Oct. 2, will be available for free to high school and college students, providing they turn in their paperwork on time.

Full-time high school or college students enrolled in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama or North Carolina are eligible. They must fully complete and submit the ticket scholarship application by Friday, Aug. 29. Applications may be filled out at www.chattanoogasymphony.org (Click on "Yo-Yo Ma Scholarships" under "Experience").

Winners, chosen by lottery, will be notified by Thursday, Sept. 4. Winners must show a student ID or prove full-time attendance. Tickets (each valued at $75) are available through the UnFoundation and two anonymous donors. About 300 tickets remain for $125 and $250 at www.chattanoogasymphony.org, by calling 423-267-8583, or visiting the CSO box office, 701 Broad St., weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
