Lee hosts annual Honor Choir of high-schoolers - Feb. 8

Some 150 high school students will be on the Lee University campus in Cleveland, Tenn., this weekend to participate in the annual Honor Choir.

Their two days of studies with School of Music faculty will culminate in a free performance at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in Conn Center, 1053 Church St., SE. In addition to the Honor Choir, the Lee University Choral Union will perform several pieces.

Members of the Honor Choir were selected by their high school director to represent their school on the collegiate stage. They will rehearse choral music under the direction of Drs. William Green, Cameron F. LaBarr and Jonathan Rodgers. The students are grouped into a men's and a women's choir to study, rehearse and eventually perform the selected choral pieces, with the entire group coming together for a mixed-choir experience.

Green is a professor of choral music, conducts the Lee University Chorale and serves as dean of the School of Music.

LaBarr joined the Lee faculty in fall 2011 as an assistant professor of choral music and director of the Choral Union.

Rodgers is an assistant professor of music who joined the Lee faculty in fall 2013. For details, contact LuAnn Holden at lholden@leeuniversity.edu or 423-614-8259.
