A really good band name is both interesting and informative. It tells you something about the group before you hear the first note.

This week's Nightfall headliner has such a name. You can pretty well guess that The Slide Brothers are going to feature a slide guitar or two. In fact, Aubrey Ghent, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell and Calvin Cooke will be playing several slide, lap and pedal guitars during their set.

They play everything from slide church music to cosmic jam to the blues.

Cooke is known among Nashville musicians as the "B.B. King of gospel steel guitar." Ghent is the nephew of Willie Eason, the man credited with taking the steel guitar out of churches and introducing it to the masses. Ghent's father also played and shared stages with Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Mahalia Jackson.

The Campbell brothers learned to play as youngsters and perfected their skills in church. Darick actually started out as a drummer, however. The four were recently featured on the Experience Hendrix Tour, playing such classics as "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady."

The Power Players, the opening act, were finalists in this year's Road to Nightfall competition.
