Saturday, Aug. 27

Music Educator Spotlight. Neshawn Bynum Calloway, vocal music educator at Center for Creative Arts, is featured in the first installment of this new series.

As organizers explain: "Chattanooga is filled with an array of performers. For every performer there was a teacher/mentor that played a fundamental role in defining their techniques and talents, so we decided to celebrate our educators with the creation of ongoing live performance sessions featuring our teachers."

Calloway is known for a revue of the "Empress of the Blues," Bessie Smith, but her catalog also includes gospel, classical and jazz music.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Calloway sings at 8 p.m. Admission is $10. A percentage of proceeds will go toward school supplies at CCA.
