photo Courtney Reid, who's known for her smooth vocals and soulful sound, is the next featured act at Noontunes, a weekly concert series designed to give local artists a new platform for their music. A Memphis native, she has been singing professionally since age 17 and holds a degree in sociology with a minor in music performance. She cites Whitney Houston, Beyoncéand Stevie Wonder as her greatest musical influences. She sings backup for Shirley Jones of The Jones Girls ("Who Can I Run To," "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else") and with the Nashville-based Power Players and the Higher Ground band. Her Noontunes show is noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18; admission is free. Shows are taped for broadcast at 8 p.m. the following day on WUTC-FM 88.1, so yesterday's live performance by Jamal Traub will be featured on the station tonight, May 12.
