Three of the classical music period's most famous composers will be featured Sunday afternoon, April 3, in the CSO's Chamber Series at the Read House Historic Inn and Suites.

Three symphonies composed by Joseph Haydn and his younger brother, Michael Haydn, along with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart make up the chamber music concert. Following is an overview and an interesting fact about each work.

Symphony No. 83 in G Minor

* Composer: Joseph Haydn, four movements written in 1785, the second of six so-called Paris Symphonies (symphonies 82-87).

* Instrumentation: Scored for flute, two oboes, two bassoons, two horns and strings.

* Did you know: Symphony No 83 is nicknamed "The Hen" for the clucking sound of music in the first movement, which reminded listeners of the jerky back-and-forth head motion of a walking hen.

Symphony No. 25 in G Major

* Composer: Michael Haydn, three movements written in 1783.

* Instrumentation: Scored for flute, two oboes, two bassoons, two horns and strings.

* Did you know: For many years, this opus was believed to be Mozart's Symphony No. 37 in G Major. But in 1907, Lothar Perger discovered Mozart only added an introduction to Haydn's symphony.

Symphony No. 29 in A Major

* Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, four movements written in 1774.

* Instrumentation: Scored for two oboes, two horns, strings.

* Did you know: Symphony No. 29 was written by Mozart at age 18 after he returned from a trip to Vienna with his father in 1773. Listen for the opening octave drop in the first notes of the first movement, a signature of that sonata.
