Tiempo Libre brings Afro-Caribbean music to Athens, Tenn.

Three-time Grammy-nominated Afro-Caribbean music group Tiempo Libre will be in Athens, Tenn., on Friday, April 7, to perform in the Big Time/Small Town concert series, sponsored by the Athens Area Council for the Arts.

The concert is held at Athens City Middle School, 200 Keith Lane, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $10 students.

Since the group's formation in Miami in 2001, its members have been on a mission to share their Afro-Caribbean heritage with as wide an audience as possible. Over 16 years, the band has appeared around the globe and has been featured on television shows including "The Tonight Show," "Live From Lincoln Center" and "Dancing With the Stars."
