If you love Handel's masterpiece, "Messiah," then join the chorus.

The public is invited to join other area singers on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. when First Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Brainerd hosts its annual "Messiah" community sing-along. Bring your own score - only a limited number of chorus books will be available on loan for the event - and join in on the choruses.

The event includes a chamber orchestra and professional soloists. Sunday's featured soloists will be Cynthia Johnson, soprano; Jessica Kodsi, mezzo-soprano; Andrea Dismukes, contralto; James Frost, tenor; and Tony Deaton, bass. Dr. Lonnie McCalister, former dean of Lee University's School of Music, will direct the oratorio.

This all-denominational event is a unique opportunity for audience participation in what has become a musical hallmark of the season. Participation is free, but a freewill offering will be collected. Refreshments will follow the program.

The church is located at 7450 Standifer Gap Road.

Driving directions: Exit I-75 at Shallowford Road, pass Hamilton Place, continuing to traffic light at intersection of Gunbarrel and Shallowford roads. Turn left onto Gunbarrel, following it to the opposite side of the roundabout, where Gunbarrel will turn into Standifer Gap Road. Church entrance is about 1/4-mile farther on right on Standifer Gap.
