The Marcus King Band, fronted by a third-generation touring musician, will play Friday, Jan. 6, at Revelry Room, 41 Station St.

King, who played as a preteen sideman for his father, bluesman Marvin King, calls his band's music "soul-influenced psychedelic Southern rock."

The band recently released a self-titled second CD, produced by Warren Haynes, that has drawn praise for King's rough-hewn vocals, soaring guitar work and heartfelt songwriting.

The band features Jack Ryan on drums and percussion, Stephen Campbell on bass, Matt Jennings on keys and organ, Dean Mitchell on saxophone and Justin Johnson on trumpet, trombone and backing vocals.

The 18-and-older show starts at 9 p.m.; doors open at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10. Call 423-521-2929 or go to www.revelryroom.co.
